Hello New World,
I know, it's over! It's all me. I know!
I am leaving Blogger. Even though, I kept you out of the loop, for a while. I think that, as far as business is concerned, it would be better to move to Wordpress.
But, don't fret!
If you have Wordpress, you can follow me here:

And I will keep this up, a while longer.

Resetting of Goals and Big News!
Hello New World,
First, I want to announce that Scott Kelby is coming to Washington D.C.! How awesome is that. I would love to go, but due to my economic situation, I will be grounded at home. He will be at the Washington Convention Center on December 2, 2011. He will be doing the series “Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It”. For those that are able to go, I will be soooooo jealous! His workshops are the bomb, and if you have questions, he takes time out to personally answer them. So, if you can, go see this man!
Well, this year's FotoWeek, seemed like a bust. Other than the copyright class, I did not see too many things that I wanted to participate in.
The plus to this was that it allowed me some time to think.
I decided to reset my goals. I am even considering attending the Washington School of Photography. I want to have a base to my work.
Also, I reached out to a few fashion photographers, that are locaed in the D.C. area. I am still waiting.
My goal is to get my name out there!
I want to make it happen!

Foto, No Go!
Hello New World,
Well, this is day two of DC Foto Week. I am not big on complaining, but the website, does not have there free events readily accessible. So needless to say, I had to pass today's events up. It was not a totally useless day, oh no. I changed my background to my website and added a reflective style to my logo.
I know, I was so busy!

Catwalk for the Quilt at Aveda
Hello New World,
Models and Stylist from the show.
Well, let me start off by stating that these students are awesome! I love the entire program! The styles, in my opinion, were very avante garde. I don't quite remember the theme, but lovely, none the less. Also, my stylist, Star, sang her heart out! It was great! I will state that I thought, at least for me, it was wild, because all three ladies that style my mohawk, was in the show. Definitely, these students are very talented!

Biker Shoot Update
Hello New World,
Last week was very wild. The biker shoot, that I had scheduled, was a success, minus the bike.
I had some people pull out of the shoot, which was fine. I ended up with two great models, and one superb makeup artist.
The shoot was by the Hosteling International. I held the shoot, in the alley. I thought it was a hot spot. I planned that spot especially for the bikes, but oh well. The ladies, Rachel Baines and Rogi Banks, both had on their best biker outfits. This was one shoot that I was thought, even though we had a few trials, was an overall success.
Once the retouching has been done, I will post them. Also, I just did some readjusting to my business. I will post my first website, very soon.
Once again, to all, TTYL!

Biker Shoot. So Reeady!
Good Evening New World,
I know, but there wasn't anything happening to me, so nothing to blog about.
But, I do have something, for today.
This week, I have a shoot. I know a lot of you are like, finally. I have been in hiatus. Please forgive me. This upcoming shoot is biker themed. You know I have to do it different. So I will be working with MUA's, models, and hopefully a few other photographers. I will see.

DC Fashion Week Review
Guest @ Dirty Bar
Good Evening, New World,
I know, sorry for being M.I.A., but the past couple of day, have been a dream. I am meeting so many new people. DC Fashion Week, is beginning to change my outlook.
![]() |
Lady Tre & Paul Wharton
I will start off by telling you guys about the Eco Fashion show, that was Monday. It was at a location called Perkins & Will, that was located in NW DC. Some of the designer were awesome. I especially loved the Aidah Collection. Her designs, in my opinion, are very classic.
At the end of the show, I had an opportunity to snag a photo with Paul Wharton.
My friend, Leah Jones, took the photo of me and Paul Wharton. Then, on Thursday, the Dirty Bar hosted a Fashion Networking Party. I loved the party. It was very fun, and I had a chance to network with a couple of individuals. The models were very lively and other photographers were very friendly.
There are a few more events that are going on this week. Please, check them out.

DC Fashion Week
Good Morning New World,
Or should I say "Extremely Good Morning".
It is 2:24 a.m., and I am extremely excited. This week is DC Fashion Week, and I can't wait to soak up the festivities.
DC Fashion Week is a chance for DC to show different outlets of creativity. The week begins on Sept. 19-25, and I can not wait. I just realized that I missed one of the kick off events, but that is ok. There are several more to go.
I will add the link at the bottom of the blog, but to all, " Happy Fashion Week".

Just an Update..........Oh yeah, I am still around!
Good Evening New World,
Is your power back on, since Aunt Irene left?
HAHAHAHAHAHA
This week has been very different, for me.
I had blessings and disappointments, but along the way, I am learning, do not put too much on one project.
Ok, where do I begin?
Hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm...............................................
Oh yeah,
The Exorcist House, during rush hour.
I had an opportunity to visit the house that the “Exorcists”, was filmed. I never saw the movie. When I was younger, my mom was a big horror movie fan, but she told me that this particular movie scared her, so I never watched it. Needless to say, I had a very different idea, to what the house was. So, me and my friend, Leah, traveled over to the place. I must say, I found the house very interesting. Beautiful scenery, busy environment. One man, whom was there with his family, began to tell what the movie was about. I was listening, to his story, in aww.
That was the blessing.
This month, I tried to book as many shoots, as possible, to stay in good practice. Each of the shoots had, except for one, was canceled. Either it was the weather, migraines, or new natural disasters, none were done. But, it was actually a blessing still, because I began to move my daughter into a new school.
So....what is the next adventure? Not sure, but will try to keep everyone posted!

Broke Photographer. Looking for Inspiration
Good Evening, New World,
I started to notice that this recession is hurting everyone. Beginning entrepreneurs, especially.
I have been having these ideas for shots, but not enough business to drive the ideas.
So I am coming to my readers, for ideas.
I need some ideas for advertising myself. Any ideas ? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Latest Shoot
This weekend, I shoot Candice Davis, at the Arboretum, in DC. I learned that not all property is considered public. However, with the time that we had, I was able to get four great shots. So without further ado, my latest set. I will be only showing three shots. Please, enjoy.
This shot, to the right, was my favorite shot. She so a attitude through a natural setting.

Lost, but Not Forgotten.
Hello New World,
Please, forgive me. I am always begging to the world, to forgive me. I have been a little busy. I will try to do better, on blogging.
I just did a shoot, last week. I think that it went extremely well. The young couple, was absolutely beautiful together. I am hoping that I get a chance to shoot more couples, that are this cute.
Also, to any of my local photographers, in the DC area. Please, help support MOCA DC, by joining. The director, Mr. David Quammen, is a great guy. Personally, I love the studio, space, and the fees. Since I am just starting out, and my photography budget is 0, his prices work for me. So, please, join up!
These next couple of weekends, I will be running practice shoots. I am in the process of sharpening my skills. What little I have now. Anyway, I picked out a few models. One, in particular, has this look, that makes me want to just stare. LOL!
Anyway..........will be getting back with you wonderful people, very soon.
Oh yeah, check out my latest work on Flickr.

Random Thoughts.........
Good Morning Bright New World,
What a beautiful day. Finally, a cool 80 degrees and life is good.
Right now, I have so much to be thankful for and so many things to think about.
The first is that I need to recut my hair. I just found a wonderful, young lady, named Mistarie. I want to say, if you are ever in the DC area, and you want something different, go to Aveda Institute. I walked out loving my cut. I wanted to get a trim and to cut my sides. After playing with them, I think that they are too long.
One thing, one client, I can't reach her.
Also, I must send out my emails to the models, alerting them to he date for my shoot. I know, I am soooooo late, but better late than never, right?!
Ooooohhhhhhh, so much going on, in my coconut, such little time!

A Glimpse to My Day and a Bit of News!
Good Evening New World,
A young lady enjoying her lunch.
Another young lady enjoying her afternoon.
This afternoon was something. I have a week off, from family, and I am trying to enjoy it. I just came back from Georgetown and I was able to see some of the sights. I found two wonderful young ladies, that allowed me to photograph them. One young lady, the one in the jeans, is studying 3d animation. I wish I would have gotten her name, she seems very interesting. Other than the usual, I think that the I will be putting out a casting call to shoot, for practice, up until my big shoot.
Welcome Relaxation!
Oh yeah! I forgot to mention a new young model, that I am proud to introduce. Her name is Laura. She is a great model. She is on point with the poses, and she is just getting started, so watch out, World!

A Bit of Good News!
Good Morning New World,
Today is a new and wonderful day. It is also the start of a brand new, and totally great month.
The first is that I have a shoot, today. I have yet to do a location shoot, so I will see how this will work out. I am very hopeful that this shoot will go smoothly.
The second is that I have two paying jobs, this month. I am very excited about this.
I just got my account accepted on Modelfy. I was looking, on the site, and I am in complete aww. These people are professionals! I love that editorial fashion shoots. I went online, to do some research, and I became more swept away by Vouge magazine covers. I want to aspire to that.
The last bit of news was that I applied for a position, in the government, as a VIS. I am hoping it goes through!
Anyway.................enjoy this beautiful day!

The Online Lighting Diagram review
Good Evening New World,
So far, since being on vacation, this week, I have been practicing on light set ups. I don't know about anyone else, but I am a visual learner, as opposed to an audio learner. Anyway, I am still practicing on setting up my lights, and stumbled across a site that is interesting and free!
The website is called "The Online Light Diagram". The site, in my opinion, is very interesting. It allows you to map out where you would set your lights. The diagram contains a person on background paper, a camera in front of the person, and a variety of lights sources and equipment.
Personally, I used it a couple of times, but have found this site to be very useful. I need to be in a habit of using this site more often. I think that for the individual, that is learning photography, on their own, this would be a very resourceful tool. In fact, I think that the site makes it an ultimate resource by allowing the user, if they have Photoshop, to download their PSD file, which I believe is free.
So................in a nutshell, check this program out. It is a great tool.

Vacation........Yay!
Good Evening New World,
I know that I have been M.I.A., but I nothing interesting has happened. Well........the one interesting thing was that I am on a two week vacation!
During my time, I made up my mind to get in some exercise, and practice my lighting set ups.
In the upcoming months, I have a couple of paid shoots. I am still doing my TFP (Time For Print, or Trade) shoots, as well! It is just that in this backwards economy, I need to get paid!
So........................I will try to keep you wonderful people posted!
****I am not big on doing that muah thing! It took me a long time to realize that it was the noise made when sending some one an air kiss! Crazy!

Putting Out My Price List...............What do you think?
Good Evening New World,
After a week of busting my head in class, on and off retouching, I have found time to come up with my price list. I would appreciate any feedback.
I am offering my time at $50.00 hrly rate.
The rate would not include studio time. The studio price is $35.00 hrly rate.
Retouching would be done in three different packages.
Basic (clearing up skin) $50.00 per frame
Medium (clearing up skin, lighting eyes, and light skin softening) $75.00 per frame
Advanced (clearing up skin, light or change eyes, major skin softening, and body retouching) $150.00 per frame
Right now, unless a specific price is quoted, will be the standard rates.
The next goal would be to finish planning my website. That will be on my list of projects to produce.
Give me some feedback!

Planning for the future!
Good Evening New World,
These past two weeks have been very challenging, but different.
So far.........I don't recall if I have stated this previously, but I am still in college. I will tell you, web design is kickin my butt! None the less, it is a learning experience.
Let me give you lovely people a brief catch up.
These next two weeks will be me booking dates for clients.
I have, finally, made my price list. I know it has taken me a while to do it, but it is done! So now, that is one less priority to knock off my list.
The next priority will be to begin making some custom pieces, for my upcoming shoot.
I will be working with one of the models in the upcoming shoot, Ms. Candice Davis, on creating these custom pieces. So, not only is she a great model, but a wonderful fashionista!
The following priority, after that, would to begin to practice these new lighting techniques.
Urgh!

Scott Kelby's Photo Recipes..
Good Evening New World,
I will say thank you for being patient with me, during this short term hiatus. I don't know if some of my readers know, but I am still in college. At the current moment, I am working towards my bachelor's degree in Multimedia Visual Communications, which is totally opposite from what I am doing personally, as well as being a mother. Yeah, I think that I am kind of busy.
Well, today is a review. It is on the Scott Kelby Photo Recipes. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a huge NAPP fan! If NAPP was a woman, it would be my mom. That is how much I refer, and love NAPP. Also, this set is taught by one of my absolute favorite teachers, besides from David Cuerdon, the infamous Scott Kelby! I mean, he's the greatest, since pre sliced bread!
Well, the iPad app was based on his video series, which is titled the same. He states that the photo recipes came from his series of books, which is called "The Digital Photography" series. I have books one and two, and these books are very resourceful. I would pick up that book before I would pick up my camera's manual. I will state, and maybe I need to finish reading the book completely, but I don't recall seeing the recipes. Either way, it was the smartest thing he has ever created, and even more so, a brilliant idea, by turning the series into an app!
The app is great. It focuses on various lighting situations, that are normally used by photographers. He also states how he would use the various lighting techniques. Also, what I love the most, he tells you how he set up. Also, I would like to state, just like with any recipe, you can manipulate these techniques, to make them your own.
I have not had a chance to use the recipes, but I have been reviewing the videos, and I am very anxious to try them out.
So..........in a nutshell, I highly recommend the series!

Just A Quick Break...
Good Afternoon, New World,
Today was a day filled with so many DIY ideas. So many, that I had to take some time out and clean some older projects off of my laptop. While I was cleaning, I found that I had my old Sims 2 videos on here. I can tell you now, there is no way I am getting rid of this. OMG! I have a few of them on here, but the majority is on the YouTube page. Anyway, at the time, I fell in love with the Geico commercial, the one with the money, and the song that came with it. It was a club version of that Rockwell song. I saw something totally different for that song. The song, from the commercial, was done by Mysto and Pizzi. Check it out!

ReTouches for Days
GM New World,
I just want to let everyone know that I will be incognito, for a while. I am still in school, so I am playing catch up, and I have a retouching job, that I am working on. But, don't fret! I will be Coming out with new shots.

Fashion Shoot, Phase 2
Great Day, New World,
Now, I am on to the phase 2, to my shoot. I have an idea of what I want to do for the shoot. I know I want an urban feel to this shoot. To accomplish this part, I want the shoot to be in Downtown DC. I know I want to do this on the weekend. The weekend scene, in Downtown DC, is pretty much dead. This would make it easy to do the shoot.
I just purchased some feather earrings, as props. The earrings are very beautiful. Also, I spoke with the MUA, Miss Cam, and she is a very wonderful person, as well as a great MUA. I will state that this woman is very accomplished and blew me away. I am hoping she will be able to work on the shoot, as well.
Now, I just need to relay this to the models.
On to Phase 3................

Funky Twenties Shoot

I was a little tired earlier, but I am back for part 2. I had back to back engagements on Saturday, and my body was begging for some type of sleep. Anyway, let's get started, shall we?
Well....as we all know, I have been working with my friend, Leah Jones, with her photo shoot. Let me be the first to say that she did extremely well. The models were very lovely, especially Ms. Chakarra Lumas. Although, I know my memory is like an eighty year old women, I would like to apologize to her. I am very sorry. She, along with the other models, were very professional and terrific. Their poses were on point, and they were very easy to work with. I want to say to all the models, great job.

The stylists, for the shoot, were very fun and vibrant. The clothes were well made, and very cute. The designers seemed great to work with, and I applaud their work.
The makeup for the models, in my opinion, looked very beautiful, and very camera ready. In my opinion, flawless! That is one thing that I love and that is to see a model with flawless makeup. The reason that I state this is because, when I am retouching a person's face, and you find that you spend a lot of time retouching a face, it makes me feel like I am doing two jobs. The make up artist job and mine. I will say that this did not happen, and I am very relieved. Each artist took their time with the young ladies and the work was absolutely stunning.
So......................in a nutshell, the shoot went great and everything was awesome.
I will state that I lost a few cards, so please, if I don't mention your name, call and curse me out, later in the week! Also, there were too many pics and not enough space, so I will be creating a slide show, soon.

My Race for the Cure Experience

Volunteers from the Ford booth.
Good Morning Beautiful, New World,
What a wonderful day I had, yesterday! I want to start off with the Race for the Cure that I participated in, yesterday. First off, I want to state that I have been participating in this race since 2003 or 2004. It was some odd years ago, and each year, I have enjoyed it. This year was especially meaningful to me. The reason I state this is because this was the first year I took the step into photography. In every inch and turn, me and my Nikon was there. The race was so beautiful. To see so many volunteers, the sea of pink shirts, men and women, all supporting each other to eradicate one major cause. It was invigorating.

A Valuable Lesson
I was sitting down, looking at Maury, on television. Suddenly, a thought came into my mind. I realized that I needed to go to the Apple Store, to get the Apple Care insurance for my IPad. Once that thought came into mind, I knew I had to tell my readers this story.
This happened in either February or March, of this year. I don't quite remember the date. I started to search online for wireless tethering for a Nikon D7000. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to that Nikon WT 3a, I believe. It is a wireless transmitter for a Nikon DSLR. Well, the research paid off, sort of. I found an article online, by Lee Morris. I will add the link at the end of the post. He describes how to do wireless tethering using an iPad, DSLR, wifi card, and a wireless Internet connection. I thought to myself, "This seems simple......maybe, I will give it a try."
The next day, I decide that my first purchase will be the iPad. Now, before I go any further, it is important to state that, at times, I say the first thing that I am thinking of or about, and give no real thought. That is what happened this day. I go to Apple, with a very confused, I mean a duh face, type look. As soon as I did this, I think that this screams to the employees, "SUCKER!" A young man, approaches me and asked, "How may I help you?", and I let him know that I was looking for an iPad 2. Of course, sold out and no holding, once a shipment arrives. He shows me the 1st generation iPad, which I had no problem with because I did not see myself really using it. To me, at first, I thought of it as a larger iPod Touch. It was only to be used for photography, and what I wanted to accomplish, from the article. Of course, my opinion changed, once I bought it. Darn that Steve Jobs! So, he starts to tell me the benefits of the iPad, in conjunction with photography. Well, the first thought that comes out of my mouth is " So, will I be able to jailbreak this iPad?" and he looks at me very confused. "Excuse me?..........Do what?!" Nutty me, I repeat he question. He tells me that I should not say that out loud, and not to repeat it, because that is against Apple's policy. He hooked me up with a camera kit, for the iPad, which seemed easier, and left thinking, OMG! What did I just say?
After that, I realized a valuable lesson. Never, ever, evah, say the word jailbreak in an Apple or any store! :-)

Want to Become a Digital Artist? Join NAPP!
![]() | |
NAPP Editor's Choice 9/2010
"NAPP?!.............What's NAPP?" I explained to her, at least the best way I knew how, that NAPP, which stands for National Association of Photoshop Professionals, is an online community that is dedicated to helping designers, photographers, and just digital artist develop their skills to a high quality standard. When I state "high quality", I mean your work looks very professional, not something that you tried because you were bored. While I was explaining to her what NAPP was, I, then, decided to post this on my blog.
I will state that I LOVE NAPP! This group of individuals are the best instructors a person could ask for. The classes are not a history lesson on tools and layers. They talk to you, like you would talk to a person showing them how to perform a technique. Honestly, I totally get that! Also, I can not express the excitement I had at the conference. NAPP holds a bi annual conference called "Photoshop World". One is held in Orlando, FL. and the other is held in Las Vegas, NV. I attended the conference in Orlando 2010, and I wanted to pass out from total joy. The instructors were very down to earth. I found that if you approach any of the instructors, it was not like you are talking to a resume, but to a real person. I was able to meet one of the instructors that I look up to, David Cuerdon. He was a very cool guy, that is willing to show you some of his best techniques. I felt tens times better when I won a GA Rockstar template set from him. Yeah, I know, nerd is the term to call me!
Also, NAPP offers product reviews, books, monthly magazines, and such great support. To this day, I am so thankful that NAPP has an excellent customer service rep, Sally Snelling, that is really interested in a person's success.
So.............in a nutshell, you have got to check these people out!
THEY ARE THE GREATEST!

Planning for the Next Big Thing..................... Photo Shoot #2?!
Good Afternoon New World,
The past couple of weeks, I have been helping my friend, Leah Jones of LLJ Photography, out with a photo shoot, that is scheduled for June 4th. In the mist of lending a helping hand, I began to have an idea for a shoot. Now, the first shoot that I did, it was a themed shoot. When I did this shoot, I was very excited and very tired. This was due to last minute planning and excitement. Although, I loved every moment, I realized that I had bit off more than I could chew. Also, I feel that I made a few mistakes.
This time, I want to do a few things differently.
This time, I want to take away the thought of a theme and replace it with a setting. In my opinion, I think that people act, in response, to their environment. This, in a way, is easier for the model to be herself and to direct their own poses. Just freestylin, I guess would be a good way to put it. Also, I need to keep my mind open for any and every thing that could possibly happen.
But still, every option is still in the air!

Style Network Shows
GM New World,
Ever since I started doing photography, I have seem to become more intrigued by the shows on the Style channel. The drama of "Jerseylicious"; the unique designs of "Project Runway". Today, Style has a marathon of "Project Runway". This show is especially inspiring because it shows runway modeling and fashion, to another level. I don't know, call me a "geek". These shows give me soooo many ideas. So.........give me your thoughts on the shows on Style.

Hello...................I'm new here.............
Hello New World,
I am very unfamiliar with the world of blog, but I am here to give it a shot.
I wanted to start this blog to give the self taught enthusiast (those individuals that have stayed on their personal grind to perfect their art) the chance to learn and grow with each other. I will start off by stating that I have always been an artist. At least a self proclaimed one. My mom could draw, and that was a skill that I was blessed with. It wasn't until I was fired from my job, that I began to revive this gift, but was uncertain of how to do that.
Let me be the first to state, never knock a gamer. At the time, I realized that after my online classes, I had a lot of free time. At that moment, here comes Sims 2, back into my life. For a very long time, I was hard into it. Mainly because, I was confused with what to do with my life. Also, anyone that knows the Sims, knows that this game is a simulation game. It is not one of those "blow up the world with a machine gun" game, just a game where you, the player, can test out different lives, ex: baker, store owner, or slacker.
Well, I began to look on YouTube, and I saw that people used the sims to create music videos, shows, etc. It was very exciting, so I began to learn about that. I put out a few recreations on my YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/tr8cybaby, and began to expand.
With the guidance of my good friend, Mic Mountain, he started teaching me about Photoshop. In fact, he gave me my first copy of PS7. Then, I started to wonder into photo retouching. Well, to make this story short, I began teaching myself retouching, and now, with the help of Leah Jones, learning photography. Although, my niche is in the fashion part of photography.
With that being stated..................
